Race 6 of 33: EchoPark 250 at Atlanta Motor Speedway
Track Specs: 1.5 mile Tri-Oval
Race Winner: Justin Allgaier
Weatherman’s Finish: 28th
Starting from the 31st position proved to be the start of a tough day for the #47 Weicks Media Chevrolet. It was an all-day battle for Kyle Weatherman and his team in the EchoPark 250 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Stage One Finish: 31st
At the drop of the green flag, Weatherman began making moves and picking up spots. Kyle settled into a top 25 spot before staying out to gain track position. With a car that was a little too tight, he drops back to a 24th place position. This les into going in for tires on the last caution before the stage. He came out in 28th. On the restart, the line didn’t get moving, causing Weatherman to drop to 31st for the finish of the stage.
Stage Two Finish: 30th
Starting from the 28th position in stage two, and after a great stop and adjustments from the #47 crew, Weatherman was showing good speed getting into the top 20 on a long green flag run. He lost a lap to an extremely fast Martin Truex Jr. During the green flag pits stops, Weatherman recieves a penalty for pitting outside the box that would put him 2 laps down.
Final Stage Finish: 28th
With a certainly uneventful 3rd and final stage, Weatherman would bring the Weicks Media Chevrolet home to a 28th place finish.
“We just missed the setup a little. By the time we made the right adjustments we just didn’t have enough time to make up for it”, said Weatherman. “This was my first time at Atlanta and we learned some valuable information to carry forward.” – Kyle Weatherman
