Wolfpack Racing Report – Dead On Tools 250 – October 30th, 2021
Race 31 of 33: Dead On Tool 250
Track Specs: Martinsville Speedway
Race Winner: Noah Gragson
Weatherman’s Finish: 34th
The #47 DaaBINS Chevrolet Camaro team rolled into Martinsville with high expectations and excitement about returning to the original short track. Weatherman has done an amazing job for the #47 team so far and had high expectations this week as well.
Stage One Finish: 31st
Weatherman would take the green flag with a 24th starting position. Weatherman, in his normal fashion, would advance early, running within the top 20 when he would come over Crew Chief Mike Tyska’s radio advising that he was fighting a tight condition. Weatherman would be able to maintain a top 20 position, fighting the tight condition until he reported brake issues. Weatherman reported the brakes fading faster than they should. Weatherman would have to let off of the gas sooner to get the car slowed enough to make the corner, causing him to lose several positions and finish the stage with a 31st place finish.
Stage Two Finish: 38th
After coming into the service of the DaaBIN Store crew, Weatherman would come out 34th for the restart. The crew advised Kyle that there was no visible damage to the brakes and to manage the best he could. Weatherman restarted stage two with one mission, bring the #47 DaaBIN Store Chevrolet home in one piece. 12 laps in, Weatherman would report that he was not able to pump the brakes up to get them working. Weatherman would overshoot turn 1 and bring the #47 DaaBIN Store Chevrolet in for service. After a quick assessment, Weatherman was told to bring the #47 into the garage. After 35 laps behind the wall, Weatherman would return to the race with the goal to save equipment and pick up as many spots due to attrition as he could. Weatherman would ride out a 38th place second stage finish.
Final Stage Finish: 34th
Weatherman would manage his brake issues throughout the remainder of the race. Weatherman would miss several late-race wrecks to pick up 4 additional spots after the #10, #68, and #1 car would get together and could not finish the race. Weatherman would keep the #47 DaaBIN Store Chevrolet clean for the remainder of the race bringing it home in 38th.
“We had speed but the brakes just weren’t there. They gave up early, we aren’t sure why but will investigate it and have it fixed for Phoenix. It’s been a great season with great partners and we want a strong finish in Phoenix.” Said Weatherman
