Race 3 of 33: Contender Boats 250 at Homestead Miami Speedway
Track Specs: 1.5 mile Oval
Race Winner: Myatt Snyder
Weatherman’s Finish: 25th
Kyle Weatherman, driver of the No. 47 Weicks Media Camaro, showed great potential and solid runs in the top 15 all day in the Contender Boats 250 at Homestead Miami Speedway. He drove the #47 Weicks Media entry to a 25th place finish due to pit issues and a dying battery.
Stage One Finish: 23rd
Weatherman lined up for the start of the Contender Boats 250 in 12th place. Having some trouble on the start, Weatherman was shuffled back to the 23rd position before working his way back up to a 14th place finish. A caution on lap 26th brought the Weicks Media Chevrolet down to pit road for service. A slow stop and a speeding penalty put Weatherman at the end of the line for the restart. Kyle worked his way back up through the field for a 23rd place stage one finish.
Stage Two Finish: 22nd
Stage two began with another shuffle backward on the restart. Weatherman again worked his way up to 14th position and was reeling in the 13th place runner when a caution came out on lap 68, again bringing the MHR entry to pit road for service. Another blunder on pit road moved him back to 24th for the restart. With only a few laps left, Weatherman was able to cut his way up to 20th.
Final Stage Finish: 25th
After another dismal pitstop at the stage break, Weatherman started the 3rd and final stage in 28th. Picking his way through to 18th position until a caution with 58 laps to go. Dropping to 24th after service on pit road, Weatherman again drove his way up to 17th, making time up to those in front of him. A Caution brought out with 3 laps to go was detrimental to Weatherman. Under caution he reported to his crew that the alternator was not working and that the battery was getting dangerously low. Under the final restart, Weatherman’s Chevrolet stuttered under acceleration causing him to drop to 25th position before he was able to slide the Weicks Media Camaro up in line, and drive to a 25th place finish.
