Race 13 of 33: B&L Transport 170 at Mid-Ohio

Track Specs: 2.4 mile Road Course

Race Winner: AJ Allmendinger

Weatherman’s Finish: 22nd

After a disappointing 2 weeks of not qualifying, Mike Harmon Racing showed up in Mid-Ohio with a mission to solidify themselves in NASCAR’s Xfinity Series.

Stage One Finish: 21st

Starting 35th for the beginning of the B&L Transport 170, Weatherman jumped up on the wheel and gained 10 spots to 25th after just three laps in.  Stopping under caution on lap 8 for fuel, Weatherman would drop just a few spots but would power back through the field to a 21st place finish for Stage 1.

Stage Two Finish: 11th

Pit strategy would gain crucial track position throughout the second stage.  Weatherman continued to Drive his Beau’s Beautiful Blessings Car through the field during an uneventful 2nd stage pulling out an 11th place finish to end Stage 2

Final Stage Finish: 22nd

After service from Crew Chief Teddy Brown and the MHR crew, Weatherman would take the green flag in 12th position.  Weatherman would come over the radio after 12 laps into the 3rd and final stage advising of brake fade and loosing the ability to drive the car deeper into the corner allowing other cars to out brake him entering the corners. Weatherman had dropped to 17th, but maintained that position with a good comfort zone behind him.

On lap 70, the caution would come out for the 10 car driven by Jeb Burton spinning and getting stuck in the gravel pit, bunching the field up for a restart.  On the restart the top four cars battled for position sending Austin Cindric into the grass, but no caution was thrown which bunched up the rear of the field and caused the 26 and the 36 to come together and slide across the track collecting the #47 Beau’s Beautiful Blessings Car. Weatherman would come in to have the damage looked at, restarting 30th.  After the restart Weatherman muscled the damaged #47 to a 26th place finish to end the day.
