Race 4 of 33: Alsco Uniforms 300 At Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Track Specs: 1.5 mile Tri-Oval
Race Winner: AJ Allmendinger
Weatherman’s Finish: 33rd
Kyle Weatherman, driver of the No. 47 Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC) Camaro, had high expectations coming into the Alsco 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Unfortunately, an early tire rub issue would put the MHR team behind from the drop of the green flag.
Stage One Finish: 40th
Rolling off 19th, Weatherman took the green flag. After entering turn one it was evident there was an issue. Smoke rolled off the #47 right rear tire, but hoping the issue was just low starting air pressures, Weatherman pressed forward on the opening lap. As he entered into the middle of turns 3 and 4, the #47 PORAC Chevrolet went sideways with a big wiggle but Weatherman was able to corral the car back under control and down onto pit lane. After a quick right side tire change, Weatherman was back on track with 1 lap down. As Kyle entered into turn 3, he came over the radio stating he had another tire going down. He immediately pulled behind pit wall to allow Crew Chief Teddy Brown to look over the PORAC Chevrolet. After a quick diagnosis and adjustment, the #47 was back on track with no further issues. As a result, Weatherman finished the first stage 14 laps down and in 40th place.
Stage Two Finish: 37th
After the end of stage 1, the 47 gained one lap back as the lucky dog and restarted 40th. With a new game plan of staying out of trouble, working to gain laps back, the #47 MHR team worked to gain as many spots as possible to overcome the early issues. After two cautions, Weatherman was able to pick up 3 spots in addition to running comparable lap times to the leaders.
Final Stage Finish: 33rd
Continuing with the team’s game plan, Weatherman certainly continued to drive a clean, calculated race, staying out of trouble through several late race cautions and picking up 4 additional spots finishing 33rd.
“The car looks great, PORAC I appreciate everything that you guys have done to be a part of this weekend. You guys are actually on board again for the Fall race here in Las Vegas. Really, really, really appreciative of you guys. Like I said, the suit looks amazing, the car looks great. Appreciate everybody with the support.” – Kyle Weatherman
