Race 2 of 33: Super Start Batteries 188 Xfinity Series at Daytona International Speedway

Track Specs: 3.61 mile. Road Course

Race Winner: Ty Gibbs

Weatherman’s Finish: 16th

Kyle Weatherman, driver of the No. 47 Covert Cameras Picture Perfect Chevrolet, battled to a 16th place finish in Saturday’s Xfinity Series event at Daytona International Speedway.

Stage One Finish: 8th

Weatherman lined up for the battle at Daytona from the eleventh position. From the drop of the green flag, the driver of the Covert Cameras Picture Perfect Chevrolet fought a transmission issue. While navigating the 14-turn course, the transmission was jumping out of gear. Weatherman was able to finish the first stage within the top 10 while holding the transmission in gear.

Stage Two Finish: 22nd

After a penalty for speeding on pit road, Weatherman started the second stage in 31st. Still fighting a transmission issue, Weatherman was able to drive up to 22nd for a solid recovery from the earlier pit road speeding penalty.

Final Stage Finish: 16th

After service from the MHR crew and a track bar adjustment, Kyle lined up for the final stage restart. Still negotiating the Daytona Road Course while fighting the transmission, Weatherman continued his march through the field. Working through the field and missing several incidents, Weatherman lined up 8th for the final restart of the race. Still fighting a faulty transmission, the #47 could not get up to speed and dropped back to 18th. Kyle was able to battle back to 16th to take the checkered flag.

“Decent day here at Daytona Road Course with our “Picture Perfect” Race Car – our #47 car is pretty decent, we had a couple transmission issues, brake issues, but overall P.16, not bad, not bad. Just wanted to thank everybody at Mike Harmon Racing and everybody that’s making this possible this year. Wolfpack Racing – it’s awesome. Guys this is going to be a good year, I’m really, really thankful. Blessed for the opportunity and we’ll keep on diggin’!” – Kyle Weatherman
