Race 5 of 33: Call Before You Dig 200 Presented By Arizona 811
Track Specs: 1.5 mile Tri-Oval
Race Winner: Austin Cindric
Weatherman’s Finish: 34th
Kyle Weatherman driver of the No. 47 Weicks Media Chevrolet Camaro had a strong start to the Call Before You Dig 200 at Phoenix Raceway, but a ruptured oil line would put him behind the wall and multiple laps down before coming back out to finish the race.
Stage One Finish: 24th
Weatherman rolled off 26th to start the race. Quickly moving his way up through the field to 20th place, Weatherman reported a good car to Crew Chief Teddy Brown. Brown made minor adjustments and rolled off to the final restart of the stage in 28th. Weatherman was able to move up to a 24th place finish in stage 1.
Stage Two Finish: 21st
After a great stop by the #47 Pit Crew and minor adjustments called for by Brown, Weatherman rolled off 25th for the start of stage 2. Advancing all the way up to 14th at one point, Weatherman was making moves when the #9 car began putting fluid down on the track causing Weatherman to slip a little and lose several positions. He was able to battle back up a 21st place finish in stage 2.
Final Stage Finish: 34th
Kyle started 23rd for the 3rd and final stage. Weatherman drove the Weicks Media Chevrolet up to 18th place before coming over the radio with 76 laps remaining reporting a right front tire going down. Weatherman’s spotter then reports hat all tires were up, guiding Weatherman down to pit road for right side tires. After Weatherman pulled away from the pit box the crew immediately saw the right front tire was covered in oil and was trailing from the #47 as it sped down pit road. Crew Chief Brown immediately called Kyle back to pit road and behind the wall to assess. After pulling the right front tire and inspecting the area, the diagnoses was a rupture in the oil line. After a speedy repair, Weatherman was back on the track but 36 laps down. He brought the Weicks Media Chevrolet home in 34th position.
“Oil line failed at the beginning of the 3rd stage and put us behind the wall for a few laps… the West Coast wasn’t good to the 47 team. Off to @amsupdates” – Kyle Weatherman
